Cracked firebrick, failing joints and damaged hearths repaired so the fireplace is safe, tidy and ready for the season.
The firebox takes the heat. Over years of fires, the firebrick cracks, the mortar joints erode and the back wall may begin to separate. Gaps in the firebox can let heat and sparks reach the structure behind, which is why this repair matters for safety as well as looks.
We inspect the firebox, damper and smoke chamber and then repair what we find. Firebrick is replaced or repaired with high-heat refractory mortar, the hearth is leveled and repointed and the face of the fireplace is cleaned or refinished. When everything is complete, the fireplace looks fresh and works well. A tidy firebox also makes a fireplace more enjoyable. Fresh, even firebrick reflects heat well, the hearth is safe to stand on and the opening looks cared for, so the room feels welcoming again when the first cool evening arrives.
Only high-temperature mortar belongs in a firebox. Ordinary mortar breaks down under heat, so we use the right product.
A stuck damper or a rough smoke chamber hurts draft. We repair or replace these parts as needed.
Cracked hearth stones and stained face brick can be repaired or refaced to match the room.
We explain how to use the fireplace and how often to have it inspected so the repair lasts.
