Cracked and crumbling foundation coatings and masonry repaired and re-parged to shed water and look tidy.
Parging is the thin cement coating over the visible part of a foundation wall. It protects the block or concrete underneath and gives the base of the house a smooth finish. When parging cracks, flakes or falls away, water gets behind it and starts to damage the wall.
We remove loose parging, repair any damaged block or mortar underneath and apply fresh coats that grip firmly, shaped to shed water and finished to match the house. Where moisture is a bigger problem, we explain drainage and grading steps that protect the repair for the long term. A fresh foundation coating also improves how the house looks from the street. Clean, even parging that matches the brick or siding above it makes the whole base of the home look finished and well kept.
Freezing water, soil movement and poor bonding cause cracks and delamination. Fixing the cause is as important as fixing the surface.
Loose material is chipped away to a firm base. The surface is cleaned and dampened so new parging bonds well.
We apply the material in layers, shape it to shed water at the top and finish it with a texture that matches the house.
Block that is cracked or crumbling can be repaired, and gutters, grading and downspouts can be improved to reduce moisture.
